"A ship is always safe at shore, but that is NOT what a ship is built for."
-Albert Einstein
MY STORYMy name is Mikal Kelaidis. I work for a tech company that you've probably heard of if you attend university.
I love photography, graphic design, videography and all things creative. Not only is it a way to express yourself, but it allows others to see the world through my eyes. I have always had a creative mind for as long as I can remember. My ultimate dream would be to own my own clothing brand and to sponsor extreme athletes. Creating memories with the ones I love are the most important things to me. |
My Photoshop Exhibits
Exhibit 3: USU Stars Digital DisplayI cropped the image, lowered the whites and highlights to eliminate the washout from the sun in the background. I cropped the hill they were standing on. I used the selection tool and filled it with black, then dropped the transparency. I used a sans-serif bold font for all the text except the word "success" which I have larger and in script to connect the feeling of the graduates to success and give the text emotion.

Exhibit 4 - Personal ProjectThis is a picture I took at my apartment complex standing on a playgroud during the supermoon. In Camera Raw, I cooled down the temerature to get the look that I wanted. I brought down the highlights and whites to reduce the glare of the picture. I brought up the shadows and the contrast to make the details in the picture pop. I brought up the clarity and vibrance just slightly. I sharpened the image and increased the radius, detail, and luminance.
In Photoshop I added a vignette and darkened the lower area of the tree where the apartments are to accent the tree and the moon. |
Exhibit 5 - FlyerI currently work for Qualtrics full time so I used their classic red/crimson color to catch the eye. The red stripe actually reminds me of the pillars you will see throuought our office. I used adjustment layers and fx. Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, hue/saturation, shape tools, and the selection tools.

Exhibit 6 - Business CardI have been playing a lot of Skyrim, so I went with a medieval/magic look. I created a drop shadow from the black area to provide depth. On the monogram I created I used bevel, color overlay, stroke and gradients. I went with an old elven looking font for the rest of the text.

Exhibit 7 - Retouching A PhotoBefore (left) | After (right)
The image was a little washed out so I brought down the exposure and brought up the shadows. I fixed my niece's hair that was blowing in the wind, whitened her eyes and used the healing brush to fix the bags under her eyes.. I whitened my teeth and (just to see if I could) used the clone stamp and healing brush to give myself a beard, because I cannot grow one :(. |

Exhibit 10 - Hero EmblemThis is a hero emblem I made while following along with one of the tutorials throughout the course. I really enjoyed learning what kind of amazing things can be accomplished when combining the fx and adjustment lares. Also I learned there are some really cool things you can do with the lighting features to create the lense flare effects.

Exhibit 11 - My StyleThis is a style that I created, again inspired by Skyrim (the videogame). I reduced the space between the letters added a drop shadow created a gradient that resembled black gloss, added a stroke, outer glow, bevel and I created the frame using the "create picture frame" feature and beveling that as well.

Exhibit 12 - Extra Credit
Exhibit 13 - Extra CreditI have been dying to go to Switzerland, which has contributed to my obessession with medieval time movies and video games lately.
Here are some of the places I hopt to visit while I'm there. I created four identical rounded rectangles and then used the "edit>paste special" feature to paste inside the objects to create this layout. |
